Train House - July 2021
268 Byron Street, Trenton (Quinte West), ON

Inspired by the shape and context of the site, the Train House is the third speculative house design for the Melhado family of six. The size of the lot is a reminder of our lot back home that has a mid-century house deigned by a elite upper-class socialite and chemical engineer.

This design is intended to denote movement in a minimal and contemporary form. It proposes the use of materials (cut stone, cross laminated interiors walls, front and back decks, and roof structures) found site and others that are environmentally friendly, in order to achieve a sustainably built energy efficient house. 

Additionally, the layout is deliberately spread out and includes a trellis covered court yard for family gatherings, play and gardening.
